A Message From “The Family”: On Living Without Fear

surrender“Fear is the mind-killer” as one of your writers has said. Fear paralyzes. Fear energizes. Fear eats away at reality, shrinking it until there is no room in it left to breathe. Awareness of fear is the first step in learning to overcome fear. Listening to fear, and learning from it, is essential if one is not to be ruled by fear.

Fear comes from a sense of vulnerability, a belief that something essential can be taken away from one by another. Underlying this meme are the assumptions that there is a difference between self and other, and that self and other are opposed. In fact this is not true in most cases. In most cases, the forces that appear arrayed against one are not enemies at all. They are simply obstacles. They do not threaten out of malign intent. They simply exist for their own purposes, which appear to run counter to one’s own.

Consider the career criminal who makes a habit of mugging old ladies. Or the violent police officer on the lookout for a victim. These are forces of nature, mindless, purposeless, driven by chemistry and morphology to seek out and inflict pain upon others. They are Pan in the Tarot deck, physical reality as God: accidental, unavoidable.

Or so they seem. In fact most terrors can be avoided if they are heeded and learned from.

Mister Rand finds this assertion appalling. He is driven by the belief that those who inflicted pain upon him intended him harm. What he does not understand fully yet is that abusers do not really see their victims. They see only themselves. Abusers are always intent upon destroying something in themselves that they believe has caused them pain, and it is this they are attempting to destroy when inflicting abuse upon their victims.

Mister Rand says, “But for practical purposes they are enemies. It is they who hit, or cut, or rape, or destroy, or gas one to death. You are splitting hairs,” he says. Yet we say that it is useful to separate out the personal from the abuse situation. Much of the true harm of the abuse comes from the abused taking the abuse personally; i.e., believing that I have brought the abuse upon myself because of something bad in me that deserves punishment. Is it not rather that the abuser would abuse anyone over which he or she felt he or she had power? Then your victimization is not the result of anything in you good or bad. You are simply in the wrong place at the wrong time from your viewpoint, like a small creature who happens to stray into a roadway just as a tank bears down upon it.

The first clue to recovery from abuse is as we see it: do not take it personally. You are not the cause, no matter what the abuser has told you. You are simply the convenient outlet for passions and frustrations that have nothing really to do with you at all. This is a hard thing to hear, and harder to accept, for as your psychologists have said, a child would rather be abused by a parent than ignored completely. But abusers do not see their victims. They see only themselves.

We will speak further on this.

A Message From “The Family”: On the Yearning For Love

homelessmenhuggingMister Rand has been involved of late with much pain concerning loves lost, ignored, feared, or missed.  He wonders whether he will ever find freedom from his inner child’s need to cleave to another and depend upon another totally for his sustenance, a need that has interfered with Mister Rand’s ability to relate to a beloved equal to equal. So he asks, What is it that I am fated for? Am I fated never to find a partner because of my wounds? And we know that many people ask similar questions much of the time.

We cannot provide Mister Rand [with] an answer that will satisfy him emotionally, because from our viewpoint, and the viewpoint of the Greater Self, Mister Rand is surrounded, filled, and made by Love for Itself, just [as] are all beings that exist in physical reality…And from the Greater Self’s point of view, love is never lost. It cannot be lost, because it is the stuff of which realities are constructed. It is reality itself.

But how can this be true? asks Mister Rand. In physical reality there is so much hate and pain. How can Love lie at the heart of all realities when this reality has so much evil in it? And again we say, there is no answer that can satisfy Mister Rand on the heart chakra level. For in part he still cleaves to the notion of God as omnipotent and separate from both Mister Rand and creation itself. And we do not see this as the truth.

As your writer George Macdonald once wrote, God is made of Love in all parts of Himself, and thinks nothing of Himself, but only of how He may woo His Creation back to Himself.  For God does not need anyone to love God. For God, it is enough that you love yourselves, for God does not see the divine nature as separate from you. Love one another and you love God. Love the animals and you love God. Love the trees and you love God. Love those who hate and persecute you, for they are trapped in the endless cycle of force threat and blame which narrows and narrows and narrows their consciousness until the only thing that exists for them is raw unfulfillable need. This state of raw unfulfillable need is what your writers sometimes refer to as Hell, and as Mister Rand knows only too well, one can be in Hell while still on Earth.

But  there is hope. For returning to Love is inevitable. In the end, everyone and everything is safe. Though your corporations destroy this world a thousand times over, it will be reborn. Though your religious individuals quarrel and condemn and are condemned in turn by your nonreligious individuals, beneath all this furor Love is still present. And the way one can know this is true is simply by observing that, when Love is accepted as a foundation for all one’s dealings, all one’s dealings thrive. If Love were illusory, loving others and oneself would not produce happiness and joy. They would produce only hunger for more love. For understand this: the yearning-love of which Mister Rand speaks is not Love in the way we see things.

Yearning-Love is a state of consciousness that arises when one fears to believe that one is worthy of being loved. It is a state of consciousness that arises when one demands that God prove to one that one is lovable by sending one the perfect match. And there is no such creature on Earth or in Heaven except Love itself.

We are sorry that Mister Rand is in pain. We are sorry that he thinks that because he has more flesh on his skeleton than is healthy for him that he is an abomination and desolation; that because he is homosexual God does not want him; that because he did not save his brothers or mother or father or lover or dogs from their illnesses and deaths that he has failed Love. Physical reality is the only reality where pain is available, but its wonders are far more numerous than its pains. One must however be willing and able to see the goodness and love around one, and until one has felt fully one’s force threat and blame wounds, given them a voice, treated them with tenderness and consolation, and cradled them not to cling to them but to parent them as they were never parented, until one is willing to do this, one will feel cut off from the Love that is at the center of oneself and everything else.

And so we encourage all who suffer from unsatisfied longing for love: breathe into your heart and let out the breath slowly. Let yourself relax and soften around the clenched fist within you. Let yourself feel a bit more of the pain you are pushing out of sight, give it a voice, paint its picture, write down what it says to you. And invite Love into it. Try this with yourself for a month, and see how you feel at the end of this time. And we thank you for sharing.

The Wheel of Creation: Strategy

Strategy is a flexible step-by-step plan for getting from where I really am to where I really wish to be.

My strategy must be flexible, because circumstances can change from day to day: some doors open, others close, and I must be alert to opportunities as they arise.

My strategy must be step-by-step, because often I am tempted to cling to a plan that’s not working simply because it’s been elegantly contrived and exhaustively worked out. Knowing when to detach from a treasured plan is one of the big lessons of Strategy Spoke of the Wheel of Creation.

If baffled as to proper strategy to attain a desired goal, it’s often useful to look to the spoke opposite the Strategy Spoke on the Wheel of Creation: the Action Spoke. Rather than do nothing because I’m unsure which strategy to employ, I can look at what actions others are taking to achieve similar goals, and apply one of them—chosen at random, if necessary—to see where it leads me.

Remember: You are not a failure because you make mistakes. You are only a failure if you refuse to learn from your mistakes.

The Wheel of Creation: Belief

ImageBelief—in the sense of trust or positive expectation—is, like passion, essential to any creative act. The word “belief” is ultimately derived from an ancient Indo-European root word meaning “to care, desire, love”, and the word “trust” from a root meaning “to be firm, solid, steadfast as a tree.”

If I wish to make a dream come true, I must trust that

(1) my dream is possible;

(2) my dream is possible for me; and

(3) that realizing my dream will not harm myself or another; and

(4) that I deserve my dream to come true as much as anybody does.

My belief must be strong enough to withstand apparent setbacks, as an oak tree weathers storms and blight. Learning such trust is not an overnight affair. It takes research: has anyone ever accomplished successfully something similar to what I dream of accomplishing? It takes self-inquiry: have I developed the skills necessary to do successfully what I dream of doing? If not, which skills do I lack? And it takes self-esteem: a reframing of past failures as part of a learning process that everyone undergoes at one time or another.

For spiritually inclined people, learning such trust also may require developing a concept of a completely accepting and supportive Greater Self (or Higher Power or Goddess or Invisible Sky Friend) that is as interested in my success as I am.

I can have all the passion and belief in the world, however, but they will do me not a shred of good unless I also have a plan.

Next: Strategy.

On Fear: A Message from “The Family”

Image

Fear is the nursemaid of hate. Fear is the child of understanding only part of the whole picture. Fear is the lover of anger; each feeds the other. Fear, as one of your science fiction writers has stated, is the mind killer. Why, if the multiverse arose from a Void of Love and Light, does fear play a part in physical reality?

Fear is necessary in physical reality because (1) incarnated consciousnesses possess finite brains that find it very difficult to encompass a full understanding of the Greater Self, in whom we are each ever and always safe; (2) because beings with physical bodies need biochemical assistance in order to survive in the everchanging reality of hardedged spacetime; and (3) because physical reality is a young reality that is still learning about itself. This is how we see it.

Mr Rand’s fears are always the same: fear of falling down a bottomless well, in the dark, where no cries can be heard and where no love penetrates, forever and ever. This translates into such lesser fears as fear of poverty, fear of low status, fear of abuse, fear of humiliation, fear of death. But in fact Mr Rand’s fears boil down to fear of abandonment by the Divine Lover of souls.

The fact that such abandonment cannot and will not ever happen to Mr Rand is beside the point. The physical brain lays down channels of information processing as it ages, and Mr Rand’s fear channels are well laid down. To balance such learned fear, it is useful to begin laying down new neural pathways of trust and love. And this is best done through a combination of meditation, emotional expression, and physical action.

By meditation we do not necessarily mean formal meditation as practiced in various of your religions, although all such practices have merit in reducing fear. Meditation can be as simple a practice as sitting in the chair and feeling the sunshine warm your skin while you sing a lovely song to yourself. Or lying on the soil and feeling it beneath your feet and hands and knees; smelling it; hugging the earth and imagining yourself as an infant lying upon the chest of your loving parent. Meditation is any practice that takes you out of your focus upon past or future, for that is what fear is: expectations of pain born from past experience, or expectations of pain born from the fears of those around you.

Talking to oneself can also reduce fear. Saying, “I accept that this is how I feel at this moment,” and focusing upon the fear, gently softening around the fear (rather than distracting yourself from the fear through food, television, alcohol, and such diversions) so that it begins to recede. Saying to oneself, “Today I have food, clothing, a place to shelter from the elements, friends, and a sweet black cat named Urdwill” can help bring one’s attention back into the present, where it belongs.

This is not to say that planning for the future is bad. Fear can be a sign that your bodymind knows there are repercussions about to be experienced by you as a result of your failure to plan. But it is important to bear in mind that physical reality always contains within it the element of chance (The Fool in the Tarot deck), and that ultimately no one can control all the events of a life.

So what can one do to live peacefully in a world where pain, sorrow, and grief can exist? One way that is often avoided by Mr Rand is the way of physical consolation. Putting on music, soaking in a bathtub, receiving a massage, asking for a hug, creating beauty through making art or digging in the garden, taking a gentle swim in a public pool until one’s body is pleasantly fatigued—all these actions can help reduce fear, depending upon the forms your fear takes and the surroundings and events that tend to trigger it.

One of the worst aspects of anxiety attacks is the sense that one is completely alone. Yet independence was never the plan for physical reality. Even in the great light reaches, such as the plane of reality we call the plane of light and sound, independence is not possible. The way of creation on all planes is interdependence—asking and receiving; loving and being loved; giving and getting; communicating one’s needs to others until one’s needs are met. Your Jesus said, “Ask and keep on asking and you will receive. Seek and keep on seeking and you will find. Knock and keep on knocking and the door will be opened.” That is how he spoke in the Aramaic of his day, and that is how the Greek writers of the New Testament wrote down his words.

Androgyne Dreams

Books like Men Are From Mars, Women Are From Venus focus on the differences between men and women. Undeniably, biology and brain structures influence gendered thinking and behavior. Even more so does upbringing and the culture to which one belongs. But I believe that men and women possess an older nature than maleness or femaleness, a nature as accessible to the conscious mind as any script written by biology and society in the human brain.

This deeper nature is usually presented in iconography as that of the Divine Androgyne (AN-dro-jine, from the Greek words for “man” and “woman”). Sometimes the Androgyne is described as possessing the primary and secondary sex characteristics of both a male and a female. However, I see the Androgyne differently: neither as a hermaphrodite nor as a genderless neuter. To me, the Divine Androgyne is the fount from which both gender and nongender spring.

The Androgyne combines all qualities we tend to think of as contrasting or opposite: yin and yang, light and shadow, life and nonlife, in-ness and out-ness, receptivity and aggression, stillness and action, intuition and reason, place and nonplace, form and formlessness. In the Divine Androgyne, male and female exist in perfect complement, just as my guides, the Family, claim each human soul coexists in our original spiritual home, the plane of light and sound.

What is the plane of light and sound like? The Family describes it as a state of perfect loving communion in which no violation is possible. In this state, entities who wish to share essence with one another merge completely, exchanging their entire experience of themselves with one another, hiding nothing (for there is no shame there) and keeping nothing back (because there is no fear there). Then the entities part, each carrying within itself the total experience of the other.

Most human visions of Heaven, whether as a place of sensual delight or a place of purity and praise, may derive from unconscious or superconscious awareness of the plane of light and sound, a plane within which our essential selves still reside.

How can I experience such Heaven on Earth? I do not know for certain. By I do know that one step towards such perfect communion is to dwell not on the differences between us, but on our similarities. The closest thing to a She in physical reality is a He, and vice versa; each mirrors something in the other, and both are contained within each. Perhaps, if I ask sincerely, the Divine Androgyne will help me comprehend this core reality before my time in this body is done.

On Fear of the World’s End: A Trance-Talk by “The Family”

Fear is the consciousness level that stifles all ability to imagine hope and safety and a better life. It arises from a sense of Threat, which is a partner to a sense of one’s [ability or] inability to control all aspects of one’s reality.

Many of the questions asked of Mister Rand and by Mister Rand in regard to the changes taking place at this time in Physical Reality are connected to the consciousness level of to Threaten.

Danger has always been a part of Physical Reality, because Physical Reality is the only level of reality in which one’s resources for creating according to one’s immediate desires can be limited. In Thought Reality, the Planning State, Dreamtime, Olam Habah, the Plane of Light and Sound and the Plane of the Broadest Self, creation takes place at a word, and there is inexhaustible energy for the monad or individualized consciousness to draw upon in its experimentations with itself.

converted PNM fileBut in Physical Reality resources must be shared with many other creatures, and in fact oneself is a resource for others to use. For each being in Physical Reality will reach a state in which the body will return to the elements of which it is composed and thereby feed other physicalized entities newly finding expression in the physical matrix. This process of releasing the body and one’s use of the body is called death, and it is death that is most feared by beings in Physical Reality — death, or the dying process, which can be unpleasant as the body is denied its needs and begins to shut down.

Hope is the remedy for fear. But hope does not arise in a vacuum. Hope arises through the interaction of the fearful person with his or her support systems, for belief and support are mirrors of one another. If you surround yourself with beings who care nothing for you, or who do not even know who you are, as in great cities where millions of persons live anonymously in tiny family groups or singly in monads, neither knowing their neighbors nor caring to be known by them, the sense of isolation from potential crisis support can increase fear and therefore decrease hope.

Humans are group animals. They are meant to thrive best in groups. So the answer to the questions of what to do in Physical Reality now that the changes of 2012 are approaching is, Find your group support. Offer support to others in the group, and ask for support in return. Learn to share and receive. For in this hope will be born. And if financial resources are individually smaller, the greater resources will be larger, for the group will pool resources to help all its individual members.

How do you find your group? You find your group based on mutually accepted beliefs and values. In other times and cultures, and in Northern New Mexico among the local old families, kinship groups are the groups to which one turns for mutual support in times of trouble. And among many places in the world this is still true. But among many of you who read this, your ties with your kinship groups are strained and no longer existing owing to the deaths or moving away physically or emotionally of the other members of these groups. So looking to such groups for support is not practical for you.

If you have no group to turn to, then you must either find one or create one. You can find one using such resources as online or asking counselors or religious personnel where you can find persons who care for the things you care about and yearn for the things for which you yearn. Or you can advertise on the Interweaving of the Net for persons who share your ideas and concerns to contact you. Or you can put up fliers at stores, or take out advertisements in magazines and other periodicals.

Remember however what such a group can and cannot do. It can give you support, but it cannot support you. That is, it can support you in finding the resources and strategies for helping yourself emotionally spiritually and even financially in some cases. But it cannot and ought not be asked to take care of these needs for you. The reason for this is that you have come into Physical Reality as a sovereign entity with responsibility to create according to your uniqueness. And to give others the responsibility of caring for you as though you were a little child without power or hope is not righteous or balanced.

When pain arises in the mind, we feel it is of no good to deny it is there. We feel the better course is to express the pain, verbally to one who cares or in writing, and then read the writing to one who cares. The act of writing one’s pain without editing or making it neat and tidy helps the soul step aside and observe its pain as one observes a reflection in the mirror. It begins the process of disidentifying with the pain. Note that disidentifying with the pain does not mean denying the pain is real. This is a mistake some religious persons make who say there is no sickness or death. Sickness or death undoubtedly exist in Physical Reality.

That is why even the Bible says, do not greet a sufferer with the prayer, “Be warmed and filled,” and then take no steps in Physical Reality to assist him or her. And always remember that it is better to help someone learn to fish than to fish for them, as long as you give him or her [enough] fish [to eat at] the outset so that he or she can gain enough strength to pay attention to your fishing lessons.

One prayer that is useful to pray in times of distress is, “Good, show me what I have of You.” Another is, “Good, protect me and my loved ones until it is our proper time to release our bodies and expand into focus upon our nonphysical reality.” Another is, “Help me live today without fear.” For “One day at a time” is not simply what Mister Rand calls a bumper sticker slogan. It is how time works in the linear consciousness.

As for the economic distresses in the country of the United States, we feel that the current difficulties will not be solved in three years or even five, but may take as long as seven years before stability is established and prosperity begins again to grow. The current president is engaged in a careful game of chess, playing one side and then another, taking moderate stances so that others will step forward and act and so he can say, well what could I do they overruled me. In this way he helps fight the notion that he is the king of America and the savior of the world. He is not and he knows he is not, however much the people may wish for a savior and a king and a daddy and a rescuer.

If you have the means to purchase land in the country where there is fertile soil and water, and you have the youth and physical strength to work this land in order to raise food, this may increase your hope of control over your future. And so you may consider doing this. But many if not most persons do not have these economic or physical means. For them, the best approach is to band together to help one another out with food, shelter, health support, and chores, in communal living arrangements or simply in extended communities living within one geographical area.

Resist isolation, which is the work of fear. What value is survival if one survives while all around there is death and evil? That is not a world worth surviving in. Resist death and evil by banding together to pressure local governments to act correctly with your resources.

Stop looking for the Ascended Masters to save you. They will not save you, nor will 2012 change everything effortlessly, bringing angels with harps or happy UFOs down from heaven to make humans love one another. You are the Ascended Master. You are the UFO. You are the angel. Ask what is in you to be revealed to you, then set forth to do what it urges you to do.

2012 in your calendar system is 2 plus 1 plus 2 or 5 which means change, the Tarot Triad of the Hanged One, the Hermit, and the Lovers. Balanced and lasting change arises first from contemplation of the Light; second from contemplation of the self with all its shadows; and third from creating a nest or community with not only one person but with many. Another way to say this is, “What do I need to balance in my life? What do I fear the most? What would make me feel safe?” Another way to say this is, You are the Holy Grail, and everything is safe, even when a rifle is pointed at your head you are, ultimately, safe, for nothing can separate you from Love, the Love in you and the Love around you.

Mister Rand says this is all very well for you to say, you have no bodies. To which we reply, how do you know? And we thank you for sharing.

Welcome to The Rational Psychic

Welcome to my website! My name is Rand B. Lee. Since 1984 I’ve worked as a psychic consultant, helping clients around the U.S.A. and abroad explore a wide variety of issues: career, love, relationship, prosperity, spirituality, life-purpose, and many others. My clients hail from all walks of life. I give them readings over the telephone, on the Internet, via email, and in person. I use a variety of techniques to get information, including Tarot-reading and automatic speaking (which New Agers often call “channeling”). But whichever technique I employ, the goal is the same: to achieve purposive ego dissociation, a highly focused waking trance state.

When I am in trance, I become exceptionally sensitive to minute nuances of client voice tone, body language, and emotion. From them, I can get a lot of insight into the client’s psyche and behavior. Chatting with clients often triggers what I call “meme-bubbles”: sudden wellings-up of meaning-heavy images that string themselves out into linear speech when I open my mouth. Sometimes I feel presences around me or around the client. Sometimes I get detailed stories of past, parallel, or future event-sequences which present themselves as other lives the client has lived, is living, or will live. When I hit on information that seems especially important, the insight is usually accompanied by “truth chills”: a shivery feeling that goes up and down my spine, back, neck, and the base of my skull. In such cases my client often feels truth chills, too.

I’m telling you all this because I believe very strongly that most people—and many animals—possess some form of psychic ability. I am willing to bet that you do, too. So I’ve set up this blog site as a medium through which I can communicate my spiritual, metaphysical, and intuitive experiences to you, and to encourage you to do the same with me. But I must warn you: although I call myself a psychic, I am also a skeptic. I do not necessarily believe that all psychic experiences are supernatural in origin, and I am all too aware that many claims of amazing psychic powers are fraudulent. Those that are not fraudulent can often be attributed to conscious or unconscious reading of client tone, body language, and emotion, as I mention above. On the other hand, I am not a dyed-in-the-wool atheist or debunker. That’s why I call myself the Skeptical Psychic: because I believe that reason and intuition should be partners, not enemies. I see both as essential tools for navigating the uncertainties of life in physical reality.

So welcome to The Skeptical Psychic.
Over the next few months I hope you’ll find lots to think about here. And I very much look forward to hearing from you.
