A Message From “The Family”: On the Dream-State

Mister Rand has asked us to comment upon our experience with the Dream-State or Dreaming, made famous in your time by Australian aboriginal cultures. There are several levels or facets to the Dream-State, each of which is accessed with more or less difficulty depending upon the expertise of the Dreamer, and two of which are accessed with no effort at all by every creature in physical reality.

As traditional Australian cultures recognize, the first level of the Dreaming is the level from which all of physical reality springs. It surrounds physical reality, and imbues it; and as such it lies at the heart of all creative endeavor. It is the plane of the perfect form of which the ancient Greeks speak, and coincides with, but is not identical to, the level of reality termed by some quantum physicists the Plane of Superimplicate Order.

In sum, the first level of the Dreaming contains the  physical reality and everything composing it, from mathematics to physics to evolutionary biology and all the way “down” to specific individual plant, animal, and mineral forms. One might call this level of the Dreaming the Dream of the Earth, for though it is not conscious in the sense of mental awareness, it can be accessed by [human] consciousness. When native shamans communicate with the spirits of rocks, trees, sky, water, and other so-called inanimate objects, they do so by way of the Dream of the Earth.

The second level of the Dreaming one might call the Dream of the Mind. All creatures possessed of brains interweave their consciousnesses on this level. As there is no time in the Dreaming, and no space, through this level of the Dreaming one can commune with the consciousness of any brained creature, past present or future by your reckoning. However, great care must be taken when traversing this realm, as it is also the realm of what are commonly referred to in New Age parlance as “thought forms,” mental constructs that take on a life of their own after the one who has thought them moves on to other thoughts or leaves the body in death.

Now it is no surprise perhaps to learn that not all thoughts are thoughts that may be considered noble, elevated, loving, or true. Thus, any thought-form can achieve independent life and be set loose in the ocean of the Dream of Mind, sometimes to be caught in the mental net of one seeking to “channel” accurate information of use in physical reality. For this reason any individual desirous of learning to “channel” must learn to differentiate between thought-forms of force, threat, blame, or error and thought-forms of acceptance, understanding, loving, and giving. Otherwise, much of what Mister Rand terms “foolishness” can pass for divine insight, when actually it is simply “lame” thought-forms floating about in the aether.

The third level of the Dreaming one might call the Dream of Time. On this level, all possible pasts, presents, and futures are conceived and made available to incarnating souls for their use in creativity, experimentation, experience, and growth. This is the reality often referred to in New Age circles as the “Causal Plane” or the “Akashic Plane,” the idea being that the record of all an individual’s incarnations may be found here. The Dream of Time is also the level of reality where [soul] memories are stored. So when an individual develops what you term Alzheimer’s disease, and seems to regress to an earlier stage of their life, in fact what is taking place is that that individual has begun a process of life-evaluation normally undertaken after physical death, the “life review” so often experienced by persons at the edge of death as well.

When a parent with Alzheimer’s does not recognize you as their daughter, it is not because “deep down” they do not wish to recognize you; it is that they are time-traveling to a period before you were born or even thought of. So endeavor if you can to keep their bodies warm and fed until such time as their consciousness returns to your spacetime nexus, or leaves its body. Past, future, and other life regressions access this plane, also, but again care must be taken when undertaking any life-recall, for the energic proximity of Thought Reality, a.k.a. the Dream of Mind, to the Dream of Time level means that it is very easy for individuals exploring the Dream of Time to have their memory or impressions of other lives colored highly by errant and limited thought-forms. One way to minimize the likelihood of this happening is for the regression therapist to place a bowl of water in each corner of the therapy room. Thought-energy is held captive in water’s crystalline matrix, and after the session the bowls can be emptied with no harm either to the environment or the therapist and therapy client.

The fourth level of the Dreaming may be called the Dream of Love. On this level of the Dreaming, the soul conceives of the experiences it wishes to have during its sojourn in physical reality. On this level also, soul matrices are born; that is, networks of heart-connection among groups of souls who then go on to incarnate together for mutual consolation, support, and experience. Physical reality in all its complexity emerged from the fourth Dreaming level, made of Love and imbued by Love if Love may be conceived of as unconditional support for the expression of uniqueness in an expanding way.

“But life here on Earth is so hard,” points out Mister Rand. And in fact this is true. Those individuals who follow the teachings of Siddhartha the Buddha point out that everything in physical reality changes eventually, and that much human suffering is caused by the heart’s desire to cling to ideas of what it needs for security, safety, love, and nurture, whether it be the desire for a narrow waistline or the desire for world peace or the desire for a big house or a handsome lover or eternal youth or world fame or any of the myriad conceptions the heart can come up with. It is in the fourth level of the Dreaming that attachment is forged, and in order to release attachment when it is no longer useful in bringing about the experiences one desires, it is necessary to expand to the fifth level of the Dreaming, the Dream of the Womb.

The fifth level of the Dreaming may be called the Dream of the Womb, or the Dream of Nondifferentiation. On this level, the soul experiences itself not as “I am” but as “we are,” and in so doing is free to travel in any direction without fear, for it knows on the deepest part of the self that it has and always will have everything it will ever need to be absolutely safe, loved, and protected. This is the level of the Dreaming that Mister Rand connected to in his vision of Divine Love back in November 2013.

Mister Rand experienced a state of awareness in his vision of a loving Presence that surrounded and filled him with absolute, unconditional, faceless/wordless/and motionless Love, eternal and unchanging. He knew beyond the shadow of a doubt that nothing he had ever done, was doing now, or might do in future could separate him from this Love. This Love also spoke to him many of his years ago, when he was visiting the back yard of the Sanctuary of Chimayó. Behind the church there, in the fenced off area where pilgrims and sufferers of all kinds pin notes, pictures, cards, or photographs asking the Divine for succor, Mister Rand “heard” a “voice” saying to him from the nearby brook, “Do not listen to the old men on the hill. From my womb you came, to my womb you will return; you have a right to be here.” The fifth level of the Dreaming is the deepest level of the Dreaming in which the individual consciousness to any extent exists. The final two levels are levels connected to the Greater and Greatest Self of all conscious entities, those Selves from which all individual Selves emerge and are continually sustained.

The sixth level of the Dreaming one may term the Dream of the Source. It is on this level that each conscious entity’s Greater Self or Higher Self or Higher Power exists in a state of transcendent awareness, acceptance, peace, and humor. The Greater Self of all humans is there; so is the Greater Self of all mammals who are not human; [and] the Greater Selves of every creature who has ever lived in physical reality. Another name for this level is the Dream of the Gods, for here those great consciousnesses you may term the gods and goddesses dwell.

And the seventh level of the Dreaming one may term the Dream of Silence or the Dream of the One. It is a state of absolute stillness, absolute awareness of All That Is and All That May Be. In contrast with the Dream of Love, the Dream of the Source may appear passionless, but that is simply because contained within It are all possible consciousness and possible experiences in a completed state of fullness.

On Mother’s Day

For those of us whose mothers physically, emotionally, and/or sexually abused us—whether overtly or covertly—Mother’s Day can be a joyless experience. So I prefer to think of Mother’s Day as a holy day dedicated to recognition of the nurturing face of the Divine in all its manifestations.

Years ago, when i was visiting the shrine at El Santuario de Chimayo, I wandered into the back of the shrine, where a large metal fenced in area was hung with thousands of pieces of paper bearing the photos and/or prayers for relatives of pilgrims. The statue of La Conquistadora in the chapel had depressed me, as war goddesses always do, and I was feeling low in general because of the condemnatory homophobia of the church hierarchy.

As I stood there, my forehead pressed against the fence, I noticed that a stream ran by the place where I was standing. All at once I received a very strong impression of a female energy saying to me, “Don’t listen to those old men on the hill. From my womb you came, to my womb you shall return. You have a right to be here.”

Another time the Great Mother appeared to me was in a dream. I dreamed that I was standing in a kitchen facing a screen door opening to the outside world. On the other side of the screen were a group of wild animals, led by a giant sow, all gazing at me. When I looked into the sow’s eyes the message came to me, “Please don’t forget us.”

I am firmly convinced that environmental abuse—industrial pollution and despoiling of habitats—threatens ourselves and many other species with extinction. Often such abuse arises from Force and Threat based thinking on the part of corporate heads, who believe that anybody strong enough to take what he wants deserves to enjoy the spoils of victory no matter who else or what else it harms. Sometimes such abuse appears to arise from the trauma of growing up poor in rural areas where only the hardest physical labor results in bare subsistence living; in such cases, it is easy to view the Earth as an enemy and animals as either potential foodstuffs to be harvested or rivals for dwindling resources. Sometimes such abuses arise from the blinders which a privileged urban upbringing often places upon the wealthy; to such persons, “real life” is the concrete and glass of the city, and rural life is a kind of theme park rather than the source of all air, water, and food essential to human life. And sometimes, environmental abuse may serve as a “safety valve” for intense personal anger over abuses suffered in childhood.

I grew up in the New England countryside. I spent hours as a boy wandering our woods. I seldom encountered any animals or heard any birds, the latter because (he confessed to me years later) my severely abused older brother—who demonstrated in other contexts a marked sensitivity towards and caring for animals—had a habit of shooting and killing as many birds as he could find. “It was either that,” he told me, “or shoot Mom and Dad.” (A decorated Viet Nam conflict veteran and lifelong alcoholic now in sobriety over 18 years, my brother has set aside his once-hoarded firearms, recognizing that possessing them did not actually make him safer and stronger. So healing is possible, and I honor him for embracing it one day at a time.)

Anti-pollution and environmental exploitation activism is crucial if we are to rescue the Earth, its animals, and ourselves from Force and Threat consciousness run riot. But while we address corporate malfeasance, let’s not forget that corporations are run by individuals, and that a successful environmental protection campaign must also seek to re-educate the individuals responsible for voting in corporate practices that are harming life on Earth. Identifying and reaching such people can be very difficult, as they frequently view anonymity and freedom from personal accountability (“It’s nothing personal; it’s just business”) as some of the privileges enjoyed by the ruling class. But we must persist in showing these people that there is no such thing as an impersonal business decision where the health of the Earth and its creatures is concerned. •

A Message From “The Family”: On Reality

light_the_night copyReality is not what is, but what the mass consciousness prefers to consider true at the moment. The word itself, as Mister Rand has discovered through his dictionary, ultimately derives from an ancient “Indo-European” root re-, to bestow or endow, as in a legacy. And so the mass consciousness creates, then passes on to its members and their “descendants”, its decisions regarding what ideas, constructions, assumptions, and experiences the mass consciousness chooses to consider true and valid and which the mass consciousness chooses to consider unreal and invalid. In this view, “real” means “a thing,” that which can be held, felt, seen, heard, touched, smellt, manipulated, weighed, measured, and—paradoxically, considering the thingness of the so-called “real”—that which inevitably will pass away or transform into the next thing the mass consciousness considers “real.”

Therefore “reality” or the Real is what the mass consciousness chooses to consider available for its use in creating group and individual experiences.

Mister Rand objects. “What about natural law, the intrinsic rules of physical reality? Are they not foundational, irreplaceable, unchangeable, always true no matter what the mass conscousness decides to create for its experience?” To this we say, “No more than any convention or agreement, natural law or the laws of physical nature or reality are temporary. For eventually, from the linear time perspective, physical reality itself will pass away in its present form; or change into a “reality” where the rules are different than they are now. So although natural law is an agreement that will persist (from the linear time perspective) much longer than any of the more fleeting agreements the mass (or individual) consciousness makes, it, too, is subject to the much greater agreement within the Greatest Self that expansion equals life. For the Greatest Self in all of Its facets constantly seeks to expand its perceptions and experiences of Itself.

One of those experiences the Greatest Self seeks is the experience of no-Self. And so Death came into the world. For the Greatest Self, Death is a suspension of consciousness. But even this suspension of consciousness does not cut off the Greatest Self from Love. For Love, the Unmoved Mover, is changeless. It lies at the core of every thing and non-thing.

A Message From “The Family”: On Walkers, Talkers, and Watchers

When individuals expand their presence into Physical Reality from the Dream State, they have several options from which to choose in determining how they are to create experience here. We call these options Walkers, Talkers, and Watchers.

Walkers are those who comfellow_travelerse into Physical Reality for a specific focused purpose: to contribute in some way to the overall balance, progress, or limiting of human, animal, or mineral life here. Walkers often live for a designated period of time in order to accomplish the focused task or enjoy/suffer the specifically desired experience, then leave Physical Reality when this task is done. Examples of Walkers are the Reverend Martin Luther King, Jr., Lee Harvey Oswald, Pope Francis I, President Barack Obama, Marie Curie, Amy Goodman, Mother Theresa, Bill Gates.

Talkers are those who come into Physical Reality to create private personal experiences for themselves primarily. These are individuals who are seeking to balance their total incarnational experience or expand it into new areas which they have not yet enjoyed. Talkers are not “less spiritual” than Walkers; their focus is simply different. Examples of Talkers are difficult to come by because by definition Talkers do not usually figure on the public or world stage. One example of a Talker whose private experience includes celebrity is performer Lindsay Lohan.

Watchers are individuals who enter Physical Reality primarily to observe the experiences here and share their observations with the Divine Love that gives rise to, permeates, and supports all realities. Watchers are often solitaries, invisible to most people, shunning the limelight. They contribute to the overall balance of All-That-Is through their careful noticing of the things people do in Physical Reality. They may end up as older individuals puzzled by their lack of spectacular success or spectacular failure, or they may simply be considered by others to be unmotivated. However, most of the time they possess a quiet capacity for empathy and insight that Walkers and Talkers may not possess.

If you are a Walker, ask yourself, “How do I want most to serve the world?” If you are a Talker, ask yourself, “How do I want most to serve myself?” If you are a Watcher, ask yourself, “What arouses my curiosity the most right now?”

Remember that whether one is a Walker, Talker, or Watcher, the level of consciousness upon which one primarily resides while going through the joys and hardships Physical Reality affords very much affects how others perceive you and how you enjoy or loathe the world around you. For one can contribute to the world’s harmony by doing good, doing evil, or doing nothing in particular at all. Everything depends upon what, deep down, gives you the most sense of integrity, peace, happiness, pleasure, or intensity. A Walker operating on the consciousness level of To Force may have been called into Physical Reality by the mass consciousness to play a violent role in history. A Talker operating on the consciousness level of To Force may end up as a spouse, child, or animal abuser. A Watcher operating on the consciousness level of To Force may spend years thinking ill of or castigating herself for not accomplishing more in the world, not having enough ambition. Such a Watcher may end up being victimized (from the human viewpoint), but she does not become a victim primarily for the sake of her private incarnational experience. She does it primarily for the sake of the One Whose passion for understanding Itself drives and motivates all tangible creation.

Are you a Walker, a Talker, or a Watcher? Perhaps it is not important to know; or, as Mister Rand feels, perhaps labeling oneself in these ways limits freedom of expression and flexibility of self-assessment. For in the end, all Walkers, however committed to responding to the mass consciousness’s call to affect society at large, also along the way have experiences that benefit themselves alone; all Talkers, however absorbed in private experiences, also have an effect on the experiences of those around them; and all Watchers, however sidelined apparently by life, also create experiences to enjoy privately along the way of their observing. So do not judge yourself. Walkers are not spiritually superior to Talkers; Watchers are not spiritually superior to Walkers. “Inferior” and “superior” are not terms the Greater Self understands.

And we thank you for sharing. •
